Chapter 380 - 197: Perfect Conclusion
Chapter 380 - 197: Perfect Conclusion
’Fifty thousand?’
’Is that for real...?’
For a Cat Cafe to perform at this level was unheard of, truly unprecedented.
"Mm-hmm."
Lin Shen glanced through the ledger, then asked a question.
"Have you analyzed the customer profile?"
"I have."
Qi Hao knew exactly what Lin Shen was getting at, so he replied without hesitation.
"Seventy percent of our customers are women, mostly university students between the ages of 18 and 24. Their primary reason for visiting is to take photos for social media, with playing with the cats as a close second."
"The other thirty percent are men, who mostly visit as part of a couple. There’s also a segment of office workers who come to enjoy afternoon tea."
"I see."
Lin Shen propped his chin on his hand, lost in thought.
Adjusting the marketing strategy based on the customer profile was a standard business practice.
When the primary customer base was university students just visiting for a photo op, it was easy for revenue to plummet once the novelty wore off.
That meant he needed to find a way to retain repeat customers.
So, Lin Shen quietly gave Qi Hao his instructions.
"After the soft opening ends, start planning a membership model."
"Set up three tiers for topping up an account: one hundred, two hundred, and five hundred. Offer complimentary gifts for each, like drinks and snacks, a meal combo, and a free grooming service for their own cats, respectively."
"Also, introduce a couples’ ticket for 99. It should come with a bouquet, drinks, and snacks. We should also provide some other services geared toward couples."
"Understood, Boss Lin."
After jotting down Lin Shen’s instructions, Qi Hao offered a suggestion of his own.
"What if we switch from a flat entry fee to a pay-by-the-hour system? That way, we could increase our maximum customer capacity."
"There’s no need."
Lin Shen chuckled and waved a dismissive hand.
"How long do you think someone will stay in a Cat Cafe? Three hours, tops."
"Even if we charged by the hour, we wouldn’t be able to serve that many more customers, and it would negatively impact their experience."
"It’s like the difference between a buffet and a regular restaurant. Market research shows that even when customers have the same appetite, the former is more profitable than the latter."
"Paying by the hour feels like you’re being rushed out the door, but a flat entry fee doesn’t create that pressure. If you put yourself in the customer’s shoes, you’d definitely prefer the latter."
"You’re right. I didn’t think it through properly."
Qi Hao said apologetically.
He couldn’t believe that after so many years as a Cat Cafe manager, he still didn’t understand the pet industry as thoroughly as Lin Shen, a newcomer.
His grasp and judgment of the market were meticulous down to the smallest detail!
Every marketing tactic and event he came up with was spot-on.
This filled Qi Hao with deep admiration and respect for him.
"Boss Lin, is there anything else you need?"
"Let me see the notes from the suggestion box."
"Of course."
Lin Shen had placed a suggestion box by the entrance called "Kitty Has Something to Say," where customers could leave feedback before they left.
Qi Hao took them all out for Lin Shen. Skimming through the notes, Lin Shen identified three main issues.
First, there weren’t enough cats. Too many people would crowd around the same animal, which resulted in a poor experience for the customers and tired out the cats.
That was a point Lin Shen hadn’t really considered.
He had assumed that thirty cats would be more than enough for sixty customers.
But in reality, the number of people in the cafe stayed above 100 all day and showed no signs of dropping, which was the root of the problem.
’Looks like I’ll have to get more cats,’
Lin Shen thought to himself.
The second issue was that there weren’t enough cat toys to go around.
Customers were even willing to rent them, but they still couldn’t get their hands on any!
This made Lin Shen scratch his head, because the third problem was also about a shortage of supplies.
Only this time, it was catnip and cat treats.
Customers loved them and wanted to buy some for their own cats, but they were disappointed to find that the items weren’t for sale!
"What a headache!"
Lin Shen let out a long sigh.
He had expected the feedback to be about serious service issues.
In reality, however, they were all problems caused by demand outstripping supply!
After a moment of thought, Lin Shen got up and went to the back of the cafe. He found Lin Ping leading the other employees in checking on each cat, wiping their paws and fur, cleaning the litter boxes, and tidying up the area.
"Ping, come here for a second."
Lin Shen called out. Lin Ping started, then quickly washed her hands and hurried over to his side, whispering,
"President Lin, did you need me for something?"
"I asked you to try feeding the cats that new pet food, didn’t I? How did they react? Did you notice anything unusual?"
"Nothing unusual at all!"
Lin Ping quickly shook her head, a gentle smile touching her lips.
"Not only was there nothing unusual, but the cats actually prefer your new pet food."
"Some of the cats that used to regurgitate their food have even gotten better. It means your cat food is healthier and better suited to the cats’ Constitution."
"That’s good."
Lin Shen breathed a sigh of relief, his worries mostly dissipating.
Lin Ping’s words had just confirmed the viability of the new cat food formula.
Now, he could have Shen Yun begin mass production.
Lin Shen wrapped his arm around Lin Ping’s soft waist and asked with concern,
"You’ve worked hard today. Are you tired?"
"Not at all."
Lin Ping shook her head, nestling affectionately into Lin Shen’s embrace, her beautiful eyes brimming with tenderness.
"I’m happy that I can be of help to you."
"I’m the one who should be happy."
Since other employees were around, Lin Shen didn’t get too intimate with Lin Ping in public. After stroking her shapely backside, he asked with a smile,
"What kind of reward do you want?"
"I don’t need a reward, but there is a favor I’d like to ask of you."
"What is it?"
"Well..."
After a moment of hesitation, Lin Ping asked quietly,
"Do you remember I mentioned my niece, Zheng Yanfei, to you before? She would like to meet you."
